Thunderstorm recorded in appalachian ohio. Twenty minutes in, the rain becomes heavier and the water overflows the gutter, hitting a metal air conditioner.

Long recording of an intense new england thunderstorm, recorded through an open window with a portable minidisc recorder and attached sony condenser microphone. The first ~18:45 is relatively quieter (and cleaner), though there are several good thunder rolls at ~1:20, 4:00, and 14:10. After 18:45 the storm picks up and the recording is correspondingly louder, and the storm goes a bit crazy -- there are many very loud thunder rolls, though unfortunately there is also some clipping and distortion. From 24:00 through the end of the recording, the storm winds down and the recording level is just right to pick up a number of very clean but loud thunder rolls, with some nice stereo separation.

Mono recording with rode nt1000. It's done indoors, by the window, with the window open, pointing outside. In the first plane you'll have birds (portugal), then mild rain and some far away thunder. Some thunders are closer, pretty clear and loud. Be ware for some of my movement sounds, you may need to edit.

I believe this was recorded with a sound devices 702 and a neumann rsm 191 stereo shotgun in a concrete stairwell. You can hear the rain hitting the stairs and going down the drain. It's also hitting some junk at the top of the stairs. There are big thunder claps and more distant rumbles.

Thunder sound synthesized from a randomly generated tone, and processed (in audacity) with: multivoice chorus, harmonic sythesizer, tons of gverb, 2-second delay, and fade-in/fade-out where appropriate. The beginning of a thunderstorm, from normality to first drops of rain, with approaching thunder, and eventually a full downpour. 1. There are birds picking at seeds on a nearby rooftop, which can be heard before the rain. 2. The birds flutter away just before the rain. 3. The rain starts around the 10 minute mark. 4. Full downpour starts around the 12:11 mark. Recorded on june 08, 2021 from the second floor window of an nyc apartment building, facing the inner-bay. Edited on june 12, 2021 to combine a string of takes, remove construction noise, and noise from within the apartment. This is a short clip from an intense thunderstorm, recorded from my second story queens apartment from an open bathroom window during the early afternoon of july 15, 2015. Some traffic and airplanes can be heard in the background. This clip was recorded using an apple iphone 6 and the zoom iq6 x/y stereo microphone with a rode dead kitten windscreen at low volume, normalized later. The recording starts with gentle rain and slow thunder rolling across the sky. The thunder is predominantly in the first half of the recording. The rain increases in intensity in the second half, peaking about three-quarters of the way through. Recorded on a sheltered, outdoor stairway, in a suburban location in south-eastern england, in august 2013; using a zoom h2n recorder set on mid-side stereo, at a 120 degree spread. The original recording was heavily edited, to remove traffic, trains, planes and parakeets(!). Some light, occasional, background traffic noise remains, however.
